Yu Chun, with a doctoral degree from the medical school of Beijing University, quitted her job as a civil servant from Guangzhou of south China's Guangdong Province in 2014, to set up her online shop to promote the local products of Yuexi County in Anhui Province where she was born. Believing that the eggs and kiwi fruits produced in her poverty-struck hometown are less polluted and more nutritious, she made great effort to find broader online market for the local specialties and it turned out to be a success. Now with a sales volume of about 10 million yuan (about 1.4 million U.S. dollars) every year, Dr. Mother is now a model e-commerce enterprise in Yuexi that is officially announced no longer an impoverished county in August 2018.
